How the business name generator works

Describe what your business does and where, and pick the state where you'll register it. An AI model suggests up to eight names. As they appear, we check whether each .com is registered and, in the states we search live, whether the name is in the state's business register. Pick one for the full check.

Every idea follows four rules

  • One to three words, easy to say and spell
  • No entity ending (LLC, Inc.): you add the one your filing needs
  • No words that usually need a regulator's approval, such as bank or insurance
  • Not a well-known brand or a close copy of one

States where ideas are checked live

For the other 41 states, the checker still tests the .com and restricted words, and opens the state's official search with your name ready to paste.

Questions

Something else? Ask us.

Is the business name generator free?
Yes, with no sign-up. To keep it free for everyone, each visitor gets 15 rounds of ideas a day.
Are the generated names available?
Each idea is checked against the state's business register in Alaska, Colorado, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida, Iowa, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Texas, and every idea's .com is checked. In other states, confirm a name on the state's official search. Only the state decides when you file, and a name can still clash with a trademark, so search the USPTO too.
Where do the ideas come from?
Qwen, an open AI model run by Cloudflare. It gets your description and the state, nothing else, and we don't keep your description. Our code then drops ideas that break the rules above.
Can I use a name the generator suggested?
Yes, it's yours to use like any name you thought of. Check it fully first: the result sheet shows the register, the .com, restricted words and a link to the federal trademark search.
